

On the opening day of the UAE SWAT Challenge 2025, two Emirati judges stood out among the officiating team for this prestigious event in the realm of special units and tactical teams: First Lieutenant Afra Hareb Al Nuaimi and First Sergeant Fatima Mohammed Bandari.
They showcased their judging skills during the first event of the challenge, where teams competed in the ‘Assault’ event. They effectively managed their responsibilities by closely monitoring the competitors, earning praise and appreciation from their fellow judges.
Former Players
Al Nuaimi and Bandari are transitioning into judging roles after previously being members of the Dubai Police Women’s Team, which participated in the UAE SWAT Challenge in past years. This experience has provided them with valuable insights into this specialized area of law enforcement sport.
After being selected by Dubai Police, they prepared for their judging duties by completing numerous training courses and attending specialized workshops focused on the regulations, laws, penalty systems, and safety procedures related to the challenge.
They confirmed a highly positive judging experience on the first day of the UAE SWAT Challenge, receiving encouragement and appreciation from participating teams worldwide, along with support from the audience for their roles in the event.
Responsibility
Regarding their role as judges in the UAE SWAT Challenge, they emphasized its significance due to the responsibilities involved in ensuring the safety and security of the teams during the competition. They highlighted the necessity for fairness and accuracy in their decisions.
The judges explained that their primary duty is to ensure their own safety in the challenge area while also ensuring the safety of participants from various teams, especially given the use of weapons and military equipment. Additionally, they noted that judges are responsible for preparing the field before each team’s competition begins.
Previous Preparations
Al Nuaimi and Bandari shared their involvement in the technical committee for judges during the preparation period for the challenge. They organized workshops to explain the rules and regulations to participating teams and supervised recent training sessions to clarify these regulations. They thanked Dubai Police for their support and for empowering them to take on judging roles. They appreciated the trust placed in them to represent Emirati women in this sport, which has evolved into a global event attracting law enforcement agencies from around the world.
