01. Eligibility of team members
- Each member of the competing team must be a sworn officer from law enforcement, the military, or correctional institutions.


02. Team formation and participation
- A maximum of eight members (including the team captain) are allowed to register as a competing team.
- These eight members may rotate between different events.
- Any team that does not meet the required number of members at the start of each event will be disqualified.


03. Team member replacement policy
- To replace a team member, please email the UAE SWAT Challenge team with details of the new and replacement team member on this email: swat@dubaipolice.gov.ae
- No replacement requests will be accepted after the start of the first event on February 7, 2026.
- Teams must complete all events with only registered members.


04. Skills and qualifications
- Safe handling and use of small arms and ammunition.
- Rope work and rope climbing.
- Safe handling and use of mechanical breaching equipment.
- Medical and physical fitness.


05. Cold Range Rules (January 25 - February 5, 2026)
- Competitors must adhere to the Cold Shooting Range rules during field events.
- No competitor, visitor, or participant may carry firearms or ammunition outside of designated range areas.
- Safety officers will supervise the handling of weapons during training and ensure they are properly unloaded before teams leave the competition areas. This applies to all training sessions and mandatory team events.

Cold Range Rules
UAE SWAT Challenge competitors who will attend events at the Range from January 25 – February 5, 2025 must abide by the “Cold Range” rules, which include the following:
Minimum Equipment and ammunition list for team events

MINUMUM EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS FOR TEAM EVENTS
- 5x Unaltered, fully functional, gas masks with carrier.
- 5x Handguns with safely secured holster & 3x magazines.
- 3x SMG/AR/PDW style weapon systems with sling & 2x magazines.
- 1x 12 Gauge Tactical Shotgun[SG(Pump/Semi-Auto)].
- 2x optically sighted precision rifles(with 2x magazines if applicable).
- 1x 37/38/40mm Gas gun.
- 6x Ballistic vests(Minimum NIJ Protection Level IIIA).
- 2x Ballistic Helmets/Safety Helmets.
- 6x Ballistic rated Eye protection sets.
- 6x Ear protection sets.
- 5x Approved rappelling harnesses.
- 5x Pairs rappelling gloves.
- 5x Approved descending devices and carabineers(minimum tensile strength of 27kN).
- 2x single static ropes with a diameter not less than 11mm or two(2) single ropes used as a single line where the diameter of the rope is less than 11mm. NO DYNAMIC ROPES WILL BE ALLOWED.
- 2x Anchor Carabiners with the minimum tensile strength of 40kN (9000lbs) must be used for the anchor system.
- Any equipment deemed necessary for crossing the pre-stretched traverse line.
- Standard operational uniform and boots/shoes (If a team is sponsored by a specific company and wishes to display company logos, graphics, etc., on their uniform, there may be no profanity or vulgar depictions depicted).
AMMUNITION REQUIREMENTS FOR TEAM EVENTS
- 368 rounds of FRANGIBLE handgun ammunition.
- 27 rounds of sniper ammunition.
- 90 rounds of FRANGIBLE SMG(Sub Machine Gun)/AR(Assault Rifle)/PDW(Personal Defence Weapon) ammunition.
- 6 cartridges of 12Gauge SG(Shotgun) No.5,6 or 7 Shot ammunition.
- 1 INERT 37/38/40mm Gas gun round.
Weapons and Gear Assistance
The UAE SWAT Challenge Team will provide basic iron sighted handguns, submachine guns, optically sighted precision rifles & applicable ammunition quantities for use by all teams during team events. The UAE SWAT Challenge Team will also provide all necessary gear needed to complete all team events. This assistance should eliminate the necessity for international teams to coordinate with their country or the UAE for shipment of weapons and ammunition should they choose not to bring their own weapons or gear.
