IMPORTANT NOTIFICATIONS

The UAE SWAT Challenge committee reserves the right to refuse a team participation in any UAE SWAT Challenge event if it is observed and accessed that a team or one of its members does not comply with the skills or safety standards required to complete an event.

IMPORTANT NOTICES FOR FIREARMS & AMMUNITION

Teams bringing firearms into the UAE to compete in the UAE SWAT Challenge will be required to send a full itinerary of all firearms and ammunition to the UAE SWAT Challenge Committee via email for evaluation and approval.

  • Teams are advised only use standard issue firearms which they are officially issued for deployment. Firearms that are accessed by the UAE SWAT Challenge Committee to be designed primarily for SPORT SHOOTING or do not have the appropriate SAFETY MECHANISIMS (even if a team is officially issued with such a style firearm for official deployment) will be subject to additional handling and safety procedures due to SAFETY concerns. Time penalties will be applicable should the additional handling and safety procedures not be followed.
  • Any attachments (tape, string, ties, etc.) to any firearm which interferes with the working mechanical parts of the Safety mechanism, trigger mechanism, magazine well, internal working, holster retention of a handgun or parts thereof is strictly prohibited.

Handguns

  • Handgun holsters must have at a minimum Level 1 mechanical retention, locking the handgun in place inside the holster.
  • Holsters must cover the handgun slide and trigger group.
  • Friction retention holsters are strictly prohibited.
  • Hammer fired handguns with a de-cocking mechanism, must be carried with the hammer de-cocked with the safety engaged(if applicable) at the start of an event and before leaving a shooting position. Manually dropping the hammer forward by hand is, strictly not be allowed (such an action will incur a Time penalty).
  • Hammer fire handguns without a de-cocking mechanism must be carried with the slide forward, hammer forward, safety engaged(if applicable) with an empty chamber at the start of an event. The handgun must be unloaded and held for inspection if the handgun is not empty with the slide locked back after engaging targets, before leaving a shooting position. Manually dropping the hammer forward by hand is, strictly not be allowed (such an action will incur a Time Penalty).
  • MEMBERS WILL RECEIVE A TIME PENALTY IF OBSERVERED BY A JUDGE RUNNING OUTSIDE OF A SHOOTING POSITION WITH A LOADING HAMMER FIRE HANDGUN WITH THE HAMMER COCKED.

Precision Rifles/Dedicated Marksmanship Rifles

  • Rifles used by Snipers/Marksmen in the UAE SWAT Challenge are advised to be chambered for a minimum of 5.56mm to a maximum of 7.62mm Non-Magnum projectiles.
  • Rifles may not be fitted with assault/battle rifle and handgun style optics such as red dots, holographic sights with attached magnifiers.

SMG(Sub Machine Gun)/AR(Assault Rifle)/PDW(Personal Defence Weapon)

  • Weapons with no automatic of manual slide lock capabilities must be held open and presented for inspection to the judge, slide released forward and safety engaged (if applicable) before leaving a shooting position.

SHOTGUN

  • Absolutely no steel shot or slug 12ga ammunition will be allowed to be used.

GAS GUN/GRENADE LAUNCHER(GL)

  • STICTLY INERT (Non-explosive, Non-Gas, Non-Smoke, Non-Sound, Non-Metal) 37/38/40mm GL (Grenade Launcher) round will be allowed.

IMPORTANT EQUIPMENT NOTICES

GASMASKS

  • Gas masks must be CBRN/NBC rated. Absolutely no civilian respirator style masks will be allowed.
  • Gasmasks must be fitted with an approved filter and seal plug. Masks will be inspected and seal tested before every event. Should a gasmask not pass inspection, that mask will not be allowed to be used by the team.
  • Gasmask bags must fully enclose the gasmask. No part of a gasmask may be visible before the start of the an event.
  • Gasmask bags must have at least 1 level of retention (Ex. Velcro, clip, buckle).
  • Should a prohibited equipment be the only alternative for a team, that team will be issued with pool equipment to compete. IF A TEAM REFUSES TO ACCEPT POOL EQUIPMENT AND INSIST TO COMPETE WITH PROHIBITED EQUIPMENT, THAT TEAM WILL RECEIVE A TIME PENALTY FOR EACH MEMBER IN VIOLATION AT, THE START OF EACH APPLICABLE EVENT.

BODY ARMOUR

  • Ballistic Vests/Plate Carries must have front and back panels inserted with minimum NIJ LEVEL IIIA rating.
  • All team Ballistic Vests/Plate Carriers will be inspected before every event. Should a Ballistic Vest/Plate Carrier not pass inspection, it will not be allowed to be used by the team in an event.
  • Should a prohibited Ballistic Vest/Plate Carrier be the only alternative for a team, that team will be issued with pool equipment to compete. IF A TEAM REFUSES TO ACCEPT POOL EQUIPMENT AND INSIST TO COMPETE WITH A PROHIBITED EQUIPMENT, THAT TEAM WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO START THE EVENT MAY BE SUBJECT TO A DQ(DISQUALIFICATION) FOR THE EVENT IN QUESTION.

IMPORTANT UNIFORM DRESS CODE NOTICE

  • ALL competitors must wear mission ready uniforms and shoes which are specified as the uniform team members wear on deployment. This includes BDU-style long pants (No short, ¾ or rolled up pants), BDU-style or other long/short sleeve shirts and tactical footwear which must be at a minimum mid height, covering the ankle. Absolutely no athletic or running shoes (uniform colour or multi-colour) will be allowed for the first 4 events. Shoes must be an one-tone colour such as BLACK, BROWN GREY, STEEL GREY, NAVY BLUE, KANGAROO, COYOTE BROWN, MULTICAM, MULTICAM BLACK, DESESRT TAN, BROWN, OG GREEN, OLIVE, ECT..
  • If prohibited attire is the only alternative for a team, that team will incur a time penalty at the start of an event for each member in violation of the Uniform Dress Code.
  • If a team is sponsored and wishes to display sponsor logos, graphics, etc., on their uniform, there may be no profanity, vulgar depictions or political statements.
  • During the Obstacle Course event, members may wear athletic clothing such as shorts, athletic shoes, T-shirts, etc. Absolutely no additional equipment may be carried or attached by any member on the Obstacle course. This includes any form of non-standard duty belt, harness, ankle grips, etc..
  • Only standard duty belts & gloves will be allowed to be worn on the obstacle course which must cross the finish with the team.
  • ABSOLUTALY NO RECORDING DEVICES MAY BE FITTED TO A TEAM MEMBER’S GEAR WHILE COMPETING IN AN EVENT.
